L&E Leadwork & Roofing were instructed to remove an existing asbestos roof and replace it with a modern flat roofing system at a property in Maidenhead. The project required specialist handling, full regulatory compliance, and the installation of a durable EPDM flat roof with appropriate ventilation.
This project involved the safe removal and disposal of an ageing asbestos roof, followed by the installation of a new EPDM flat roof system. The works were designed to improve safety, longevity, and compliance while providing a reliable waterproof solution suitable for long-term use.

The existing roof was constructed using asbestos-containing materials, which had deteriorated over time and required professional removal. The client needed the roof replaced with a modern flat roofing system that met current regulations and offered improved performance and durability.
Due to the nature of the materials involved, the project required careful planning and strict adherence to approved removal and disposal procedures.
The asbestos roof was professionally removed and disposed of in line with current safety and environmental regulations. This process ensured the materials were handled correctly, minimising risk and leaving the site safe for subsequent works.
Once the roof structure was prepared, a new EPDM flat roof system was installed. EPDM was selected for its proven durability, flexibility, and resistance to weathering. Cross ventilation was incorporated into the roof design to meet current requirements and support long-term roof performance by reducing the risk of moisture build-up.
All detailing and finishes were completed to ensure the roof performed as a complete, watertight system.

The completed roof provides a safe, fully compliant replacement for the original asbestos structure. The new EPDM flat roof delivers long-term waterproofing, improved durability, and effective ventilation, giving the client peace of mind and a future-proof roofing solution.
