L&E Leadwork & Roofing were instructed to extend the lifespan of an existing flat roof in Battersea by overlaying a failing GRP system with a new ResTec Flexitec flat roofing system. The project required careful assessment of the existing roof build-up before works could proceed.
This project involved overlaying an existing GRP flat roof that had begun to fail, rather than carrying out a full strip and replacement. A core test was carried out prior to installation to confirm that the existing roof construction was suitable for an overlay system.
The aim was to provide a durable, long-term solution while minimising disruption and unnecessary removal of sound materials.

The client required a cost-effective way to extend the life of their flat roof without compromising performance or compliance. The existing GRP roof had deteriorated but the underlying structure remained sound.
Before any installation could take place, it was essential to confirm that the existing roof build-up was appropriate for an overlay system.
A core test was carried out to assess the condition and composition of the existing roof build-up. This confirmed that the structure was suitable to receive a new overlay system.
Once approved, a ResTec Flexitec flat roofing system was installed over the existing GRP roof. This system provides a seamless, durable finish and is designed to significantly extend the service life of the roof when installed correctly.
The completed roof now benefits from renewed protection and a manufacturer-backed guarantee, giving the client confidence in the long-term performance of the system.

The overlay installation has successfully extended the life of the flat roof, providing a renewed waterproof surface and long-term reliability. The new ResTec Flexitec system offers the client added peace of mind, with the roof now protected for many years to come.
